Save Energy With Energy Saving Lights!

Do you have a house full of halogens? An interior inundated with incandescents? These inefficient lights are costing you big dollars every time your power bill arrives! Installing energy saving lights can slash your power bill, make your home more comfortable, and you won’t have to replace them anywhere near as often. And did we mention that they are also good for the environment?

Let’s take the example of a halogen downlight – a popular light in many modern homes. Each halogen downlight uses around 50W of electricity an hour. Given that halogen downlights have a narrow beam, to light an average size room you will need four halogens downlights. That’s 200W of electricity per hour! You could reduce the amount of electricity used per hour by replacing those four halogen downlights with an energy saving compact fluorescent downlight which uses 20W per hour, or four 5W LED downlights, which also use a combined 20W per hour. Both will light the room, but using 90% less energy than the halogen downlights! And 90% less energy means 90% less in lighting power bills!

But the light produced by compact fluorescent lamps or LED lighting is poor compared to halogen downlights, I hear you say? Not so! The latest generation of compact fluorescent lights look the same as traditional light globes; they also emit a nice warm light, just like a traditional light globe. And they also last 10 times as long as a traditional light globe, so while they may cost a fraction more to buy, you’ll be replacing them far less often, which means you’ll save in the long run.

Similarly, the latest LED lamps are now producing a level of brightness that is comparable to halogens, and they last even longer – up to 20 times longer than a halogen. Indeed, while they have a higher purchase price compared to halogens, LEDs can pay for themselves in a few years, and give they can last up to 25 years, they’re money well spent!

So toss out those halogens and old style globes, and start saving energy, and money, with energy saving lights!
